Built by parents, kept affordable for the community.
Since 2004 The Brightsmile Primary & Junior School has served Kobujoi Ward as a not-for-profit community school — excellence, discipline and care for every child, regardless of a family's income.
How we began
From a market meeting to a community school
The school started as a promise made at Kobujoi market: no child from this ward should miss school because of distance or fees. Three mud-walled rooms and four volunteer teachers later became a fenced compound with a science laboratory, a computer room, a boarding wing, a daily feeding programme and a playing field that has sent runners to the Nandi County games.
Today our TSC-trained teachers guide learners from PP1 through Grade 9. We remain not-for-profit: fees are subsidised, meals are served every day, and families who cannot afford the full amount are supported through a confidential hardship fund.

Milestones
Twenty years, step by step
2011
Permanent classrooms
The community completes the main classroom block, a staffroom and the first library shelf — all funded by local contributions.
2018
Boarding & feeding
A boarding wing opens for upper primary learners travelling from Kaptumo and Meteitei, alongside a daily hot lunch programme.
2023
Junior school
Grades 7 to 9 are added with a science laboratory, computer room and pre-technical workshop, keeping fees low.
